Boots Makes Magic with Bridgerton’s Adjoa Andoh as Mrs. Claus in New Christmas Ad

Humour, relatability and glamour. Everything we needed from the Boots Christmas advert and it’s safe to say, just like Santa on the 25th, they delivered.

Staring the iconic Adjoa Andoh from Bridgerton, and other well-known faces, the Boots Christmas ad is a refreshing take on festive marketing and people can’t stop talking about it.

Created by ad agency VML, the clip stars Adjoa in the ‘werkshop’ as Mrs Clause whilst Santa kicks back and relaxes by the fire. Sound familiar?

In this vision of the night before Christmas, the elves have more in common with runway models than short characters donning stripy tights, whilst they prep beauty gifts at every price point. People are also enjoying the relatability of Mrs Claus putting all the work in to get everything ready for the big day before Mr Clause heads out to take the glory. Whilst it’s aim is to be lighthearted humour, there are people out there who can relate!

This feels like a new era of ‘glam’ from Boots, with a product-focused campaign, they truly are pulling out all the stops to help you make magic happen this Christmas and target as many people as possible.

Trailing 65% new marketing tactics, the ad has been curated to support their launch of over 40 new brands for seasonal gifting. The retailer’s product and brand portfolio has been rapidly growing over the past 12 months, and the festive season ad has been designed to push them as the platform for gifting.

CMO Pete Markey, identified the need to ‘evolve’ this year and the Christmas advert is definitely a reflection of this. It perfectly balances product endorsement, celebrity features and a magical nod to the big man himself.
