Burberry’s Homage to Classic British Weather With New Outerwear Campaign

As the summer months have come to a close and we step into the cold and wet autumnal months, Burberry has released their recent outerwear campaign. The campaign has returned to its roots, championing one of its archival slogans “It’s Always Burberry Weather”, as a nod to British heritage and traditional British weather. The campaign drives sustainability and tradition at the forefront, through its reinvention of classic pieces with a modern twist, emphasising the endurance of its outerwear and perpetuity of Burberry as a brand.

The Campaign centres around a series of short films featuring a diverse array of British icons including actors, musicians, athletes, and models, who embody the brand’s spirit, versatility, and innovation. These celebrity appearances amplify the campaign showcasing different types of Burberry outerwear alongside storytelling and the British weather. The visuals for the campaign are set against the backdrop of the London and British countryside, panning London’s iconic streets and traditional landscapes.

Various British icons involved include Oscar-winner Olivia Coleman who models “The Quilt”, which Burberry states to be, “an enduring icon of the British countryside”. Coleman drives through the countryside in a Land Rover recounting a dream of why she can’t sleep on the phone, she encounters a flock of sheep and is stopped in her tracks with the film ending with her counting the sheep in a seemingly witty end to the short.

Land Rover was quick to praise the clip on Instagram commenting, “Sometimes, the classic approach is the only approach”, Burberry and Land Rover are both deemed fundamentals of Britishness, so this partnership encapsulates further Burberry’s creative direction of going back to its British heritage.

Another famous face amongst the campaign was premier league footballer Cole Palmer, who is featured in a silent 9 minute long video fishing. He is shown wearing one of Burberry’s most iconic pieces “The Duffle”. Aswell as this Eberechi Eze was also shown fishing in “The Harrington” jacket when he catches a scuba diver, adding a further fun and refreshing feel to the Burberry campaign.

Followers of Burberry have praised this traditional approach of the campaign, deeming Burberry to be back to the brand it was. With others branding the new campaign as Genius.
